Company Culture Board Game Origins

The Company Culture Board game being facilitated at a company event.

Ever wondered how a board game could transform your workplace culture?

A few years ago, a client was faced with a challenge that many organizations encounter: the villain of culture stagnation. It was clear that traditional methods weren’t cutting it. Employees were disengaged, turnover rates were climbing, and the vibrancy that once defined our workplace was fading. It was time for a bold, imaginative approach.

So, I invented the Company Culture Board Game®. This wasn’t just another training tool; it was a revolutionary way to engage teams, spark meaningful conversations, and drive real change. The idea was simple yet profound: turn the abstract concept of culture into a tangible, interactive experience. (I’d co-invented one before, OUTrage, and am experienced in game design).

The results were nothing short of remarkable. Teams that played the game reported a newfound understanding of each other’s roles and challenges. They began to communicate more openly, collaborate more effectively, and, most importantly, they started to see themselves as integral parts of a thriving ecosystem.

This experience taught me that sometimes the most effective solutions are those that break the mold. By gamifying culture, we were able to address deep-rooted issues in a way that was both engaging and enlightening. It was a reminder that innovation often lies in the unexpected. Having a high functioning company culture is the key to a profitable business and that can only be attained through the Company Culture Board Game®.

If you’re grappling with culture stagnation, consider stepping outside the conventional. The key is to foster an environment where employees feel valued, heard, and motivated to contribute.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on innovative ways to tackle workplace challenges. Have you tried something unconventional that worked wonders?
